Daybreak Youth Leader Application

Commitment

Daybreak Youth Leaders are invested in the mission of Daybreak Youth:
Daybreak Youth exists to disciple students in the ways of Jesus, to build joy-filled community with one another as Christ’s Body, and to grow students in their faith to be active members of the church body.

There are multiple ways to serve in Daybreak Youth! We know many adults are stoked about working with teens but might have limited capacity. Please pray about the level of involvement you can commit to.

Youth Leader (all in!)
- Help to lead Youth Nights (Youth Group and Small Group alternate weeks on Monday nights): Teaching/leading games/worship/etc. are led on a rotation by all leaders. Teaching is not a requirement but leaders should be able and willing to lead small group discussions. (Leaders arrive by 6:45 pm and are usually done by 8:45 pm on Monday evenings.)

- Help lead Youth Events (typically once a month on a Saturday and occasional Sunday).

- Participate in quarterly leader meetings to check in, connect, and plan.

- Serve as a Small Group Leader (see below).

Small Group Leader
- Lead a Small Group every other Monday (Small Groups alternate with Youth Group Night). Small Groups are age/gender groups dedicated to reading God's Word together, praying and being in community together. This format of Youth Ministry is a more focused discipleship time.

- Small Group Leaders become a student's "person." These leaders disciple and care for students as a safe place and spiritual mentor.

Event Helper
- Provide food and drinks for special events.
- Carpool when necessary
- Are present for larger events that require more hands on deck.
- May volunteer to do shopping trips for events (always reimbursed).

All leaders commit to the following:
- Annual Training in August (this year is August 19, 2023).

- Being in community with the Daybreak Youth Ministry Team & Daybreak Church.

- Actively pursuing a relationship with Jesus.

Qualifications

The Body of Christ is multi-generational and teens are an important part of The Church! Adolescents are going through an extremely unique time in their life developmentally and spiritually. Being a teen is not easy! Daybreak Youth Leaders are instrumental in shepherding the next generation as teens grow in their understanding of God and begin to claim their faith as their own. We believe the impact leaders have on young people is vital to the life of the church in the present, and in the future. Daybreak Youth Leaders may come from all walks and seasons of life as we believe it is so valuable for teens to be in healthy relationships with adults of various ages and life stages.

Daybreak Youth Leaders are disciples of Jesus and consider their faith to be the most important part of their life.

Daybreak Youth Leaders live life in accountability with other believers and are active in the larger body of believers at Daybreak.

Daybreak Youth Leaders should have a desire and be committed to be part of the lives of students in a healthy and safe manner.

Daybreak Youth Leaders love to have fun and connect with teens and understand the emotional, relational, and spiritual investment of being a youth leader.
